Unfortunately a certain something was mentioned so often throughout the story I knew it was foreshadowing the conclusion. Twenty years ago when Falk was accused of murder Luke. Falk cant really know all that detail but he certainly now has enough information to know that she didnt kill herself and that it was likely filicide.
The most amazing thing about Harper is how she can evoke such a visceral sense of place in four completely different settings that are unique Australian. After reading her diary he learns that she was planning to run away from her abusive father and deduces that Deacon must have killed her when he found out her plan keeping it a secret and blaming Falk all these years. You just knew that it would not end well and Scott seemed to have no conscious at all from the way he justified killing.
